So, it's been a few days. I read Bosco's comment to my last post, and yes, actually, I didn't realised I blogged so much about work. Completely dominates my life. Today, I shall brush that aside, as this coming week, it will be filled with food, exams, and NO WORK (except on Tuesday).
Lately, I have been using my camera a lot more. The only reason I don't bring out my camera as much nowadays is because my parents have an issue with me taking photos of food. Another is the fact that I no longer go to places where food looks/tastes spectacular. The last time I had exciting food before Medball was my visit to the Chef's Gallery. That was a good month ago. Sad sad days. These days when I'm running between uni, work and home, I can only find time to scoff down a cheeseburger, chips and coke from the Maccas near the tower building :(
But anyway, feast your eyes on these!
Medball- 11/09/10 @ Harbour's Edge, Darling Harbour
Entree: Scallops and a carrot puree with an interesting combination of herbs on top
Main: Chicken which was tough on the outside, but had pleasantly tender innards.
Other main: Salmon with wide array of herbs on top
Dessert: chocolatey tart with crunchy delectable bits inside + a scoop of fake vanilla icecream.
I have to say I was quite impressed with the food they had at the med ball. My favourite would be the entree because a) I love seafood, b) the scallop tasted slightly smoky, and I love smoky seafood, c) the herby things on top were such a ka-POW combination, and d) the carrot puree was so soft and delicate and nice and well :/ it was just the perfect combination of food on one plate :) Second favourite would be the tart, because there were really nice crunchy bits in the middle. I still don't know what they are. Chicken was soso, and salmon was nono. I hate cooked salmon. so fishy D:
Skip a few weeks, on Friday, Borbs, Rohan and I ate at Pho Sam in the Epping Genesis building. I had never been before, and we all felt like Vietnamese. I ordered a beef pho, Borbs- spring roll & noodles, and Rohan- something chicken & noodles (see below).
nice pose guys :)
Rohan's colourful dish. I loved looking at this :D
Beef pho doesn't look very interesting so there are no photos. The soup base tasted very msg-y and the noodles had a strange texture. Like the rice noodles you get in the oily bags at the asian grocery store? The ones that have tonnes of artificial preservatives in it to make it look extremely white and ugh. Rohan's & Bosco's dishes were pretty good- but a bit too spicy for me. I will go again, because it is nice and close and the price is reasonably cheap :)
On Saturday, after studying Marketing for a bit, I decided to head out and attend the fete at Carlingford West Public which is held once every two years. The school still feels very big to me, and I still got lost when I was looking for the food area. I lined up for 30 mins to order a strawberry + vanilla icecream crepe, and endured so much torture from a little fat girl infront of me. She is such a terror. The butterfly facepaint on her face was so misleading because she was NO angelic saint, but a freaking demonic beast who wouldn't stop chucking a tantrum at her mother. Her mother was not the real victim, because that little fart kept elbowing me in the abdomen and stomping on my feet.
I glared at her, and she glared back. I haven't felt so furious in such a long time.
I am still quite annoyed - and I feel like listing all the things she did which offended me:
Talk at 4000000trillion decibels loud Screamed at everyone. I mean seriously, for someone at my waist height, she had one hell of a voice. She made me want to hurl abuse and karate chop her neck to break her voice box.
Elbowed me
Stomped on my feet
Glared at me (wthhhhh)
She kept barging around, using her inflated torso to push other people around
SHE WIPED HER HAND ON MY LIGHT GREY TRENCH AFTER WIPING HER FILTHY ICECREAMED MOUTH OHMYGOODNESS ME I HAD JUST WASHED THAT.
Yes. These may seem trivial, but if these things all happened to you over a duration of 30 mins, I'm sure it would drive you crazy too.
Little beasts like these should be DISCIPLINED. Bring on the feather dusters with bamboo canes.
Just kidding. I love kids. All except this one.
ANYWAY, here is some people love from the night!
S, A, B, C
hehe upsidedown. Sorry REX & EDWARD! You guys got cut out. When I get some spare time, I'll photoshop you guys back into this one :D
And finally, today. Woke up to my dad mowing the lawn. Drove to Cabra for their moon festival festivities. Finding parking was so hard- next year I'll have to take the train here methinks. I was asked to join a food eating competition but had to decline thanks to our 2 hour parking limitations. zzz M, D and I ate at our favourite/usual place, Pho Tau Bay, which by the way won NOODLE PLACE of the year, or something like that :D I am feeling extremely proud to know that my tastebuds have been indulging in such quality for the past 19 years. :)
Mekong Panthers. lol

Chips on a stick!
Due to parking restrictions, I did not have time to line up for this stand! WHY WHY WHY! Can someone tell me when they see this stall set up somewhere else? I really want to try it. It looks pretty awesome. Basically just a spiral of potato, on a stick. It's coated in some seasoning and fried and then coated in another layer of seasoning. Such a good idea. I think it was $5 a stick.
ANYWAY, before I hop off and go study, thanks to everyone for the kind & nice words today. I got a few phonecalls/texts from numbers which aren't saved on my phone- SO FORGIVE ME, I don't know who you are. I tried DESPERATELY to recognise your voices on the phone, and was far too embarassed to ask you who are D: I shall investigate and thank you properly when I find out ;D
Hope you all have a lovely week!
PS. Lunch with me Wed, Thurs and Friday? Gimme a call or text, preferably with names to avoid embarassment on my half please. :(
LOVE YOU ALL!
