the debris that comes after a storm which comes after the calm
SO relieved.
Feeling so giddy.
Fuaaark, no more random 6 digit decimals floating around in my head. If I have to see the word 'utility' again in the next few hours, I think I'll flip.
Today was filled with intense Skype sessions with fellow sufferers of this finance subject. Screensharing with this person, screensharing with that person, and then this person again and it's all just very exhausting.
I'm also feeling a bit dizzy - maybe I'm a bit dehydrated. I've been sitting here for hours on end, letting the 2 computers zap all the life out of me. I can practically see the gamma rays (gamma?) hitting my face, gradually bleaaaching all the pigment within. If that were really true, that would explain why my face is a lot paler than the rest of my body.
Actually, I have a more rational reason for that. I use sunscreen on my face everyday.
BUT ANYWAY.
Just wanted to say, SO RELIEVED and SO GRATEFUL .. and so darn tired.
Weekend is nearly here! Plans for Friday are: check out the IT lads at work - cos they've been hassling me all week to hand in my wireless card :'(. Then month-end and farewell drinks. I'm hoping my work friends feel like korean bbq tomorrow night. MUCHOS EXCITE 8D

Hit them with what they don't expect!
The compulsive blogger is back.
Smoothish, but stressful day today. Stayed at uni for an extra 3 hours after class to sort out all my shit (excuse my french, midsem next week, have not looked at course materials - lol, and a billion other assessments tasks due before then). Managed to beat the crap out of the assessments and my productivity level was THROUGH THE ROOF. I get so much study done in Wolstenholme!
When I am free of stress, I am less of a snide bitch (not that I'm like that very often). Proved this in a conversation I had with X from work. This post is to serve as a reminder to myself, that the best response to someone who is being very provoking/annoying/irritating/borderline-douchebaggy is to be nice to them and say good things.
I'm going to go on ahead and say it was a very Jesus-y thing to do. To get slapped on the face, but then offering them the other cheek. This way, he's happy, I'm happy, MORE POSITIVE ENERGY IN THE WORLD.
Oh Belle, you've done well today.
PS. must be J's influence, but I really love watching Blogilates videos. I used to find the instructor's hyper-ness annoying, but I realised her motivating comments help HEAPS. I LOVE IT. HAHAHA.

Growing up
Happy 21st Slu :) So glad that you, like Leanybabez said "crossed enemy borders" and infiltrated our footy group almost 9 years ago! You preserved our interest in footy for a longer time span than usual (for any Asian girl anyway) and you have educated us well in the world of really bad puns. Thanks for all that and I hope you enjoyed last night as much as I did :D - FFL
PS to everyone else, NICE COSTUMES! There were some really good ones (and some really lol ones).
HAPPY MONDAY Y'ALL.
PPS. LOL! My first and second post on this URL was also about Slu's birthday. Back in the day, I wrote HOMOGOUS posts and had a billion photos in each. These posts make me cringe so much I feel like my spine is being pushed into my skull. D:

You're stepping over the line
Digressing onto something amusing- K came home fuming last night after a heated discussion about schoolies and formal afters. I couldn't help but snigger a bit and sympathise a bit because as you can all probably remember, the exact same thing happened to me a few years back.
There is so much tension in the house and K is a bit angry at me for sitting on the fence for this one.
In other news, work is sending a few of my colleagues on secondments to the US when I am there!! This is tres exciting. For once I will not be the only one stuck in Sydney over the break!!!
Can't believe it's Sunday already. I have so much to do in so little time!!! Hope you all have a great week to come. Wishing for warmer weather already!

BEE!! (hahaha)
When I was taking this photo, I was actually on my way to uni from work. As you can see in the pic, I was walking right by the Topshop poster on market street :D
Anyway, the lady infront of me was walking ever-so slowly and blocking the whole road. The bee caught my eye and it's just way cute.
Why didn't they make stuff this cute when I was a kid?!
Ps. I was NOT trying to take a photo of that lady's backside.
PPS. If I get married an have kids, this stuff (cute bee bag) will be the type of thing I'll have on my registry. Hells yeah. W and I were looking at hotel accom, DID YOU KNOW, a "kids" room decked out in forest patterned Ikea furniture costs >$650 a night?! IT'S RIDICCC
Ppps. gangnam style is stuck in my head D:

I love unexpected souvenirs
Then I drowned myself in coffee, went to work for a quick meeting and had lunch with my favourite tax accountants. K just came back from the states and got us peas (our little I joke)!
Anyway, these peas made my ridiculously tiring day totally bearable. Everytime I got bored in class I just peeked into my bag, had a good giggle and resumed what I was doing with 100% more energy.
why is it so cute :'D

Life would be easier if:
a) I could teleport.
b) people remembered me back.
Yes. I have this problem a lot.
I have a knack for remembering faces. At tonight's party I saw a girl I used to go to Swot Shop with.
B *approaching N*
B: Hey, you're N right?
N: Err yeah, do you know me from somewhere?
B: This is going a while back, but I sat with you at Swot Shop!
N: Oh really? Oh, sorry, I don't remember you. You have a good memory.
B: Yes... yes I do..
*awkward silence*
BUT it wasn't that bad. My conversational skills improved TREMEMDOUSLY when I was working so yeah. We had a nice conversation afterwards about uni and life...
It just really sucks that I remember people's faces. I feel like a real creep/stalker when I know so much about them. You could say it's a quality, but it feels more like a curse.
Hooray for a great night.
If you're lurking, Drew, thanks for having us over! Best dressed was not announced, but I have to say L or J won it for sure (esp L with your deceptive/multipurpose gloves!!). It was fun dressing like a lady for once. HAHA.
Time to get back to my assignment. :( Yes, I used bold.
MONDAY TOMORROW :( Have a good week guys!
PS. I GOT GOOGLE CHROME TODAY. It's so much faster than explorer. Lol. Yes, I was still using that piece of crap and I got paid out a billion times when people saw me use it at uni during last semester. I feel so inadequate when I rock up to my tutes with my Microsoft Starter. There's just something wrong with ads in Word. But yeah, google chrome, I like it!

HA YESS
HELLO SUGAR HITS. Looking forward to pouring over all the food blogs during this time of year. I want to go to places I've never thought of in the past :D:D:D
Dear bank account,
Sorry. I can't help it. Too much deliciousness on one plate.

let the love around wash over meeee
Hi guys,
Had another 'Friday-night-in' today (this is happening quite alot this year). Had a rave party in my head though. I love this song. It's been stuck in my head since I got it off iTunes (free - but link is not there anymore).
It was a pretty chill Friday today, though I did have quite a few mind boggling moments.
1. At the gym
When I walked through the gates, the manager was like "Heya Belinda, it's been a while". I just wanted to curl up in a ball and roll back down the escalators. He must have seen my panicked expression because he quickly followed it up with a "haha, just kidding". I gave him my lame excuses for why I haven't gone - exams, work and recovering from city2surf. Why are they so keen on making me go? I pay ahead of time anyway... sigh, gyms.
2. On the treadmill
At the gym, they always have the Kardashians on tv. I ALWAYS take the treadmill directly facing that particular tv because I love that trashy show. Anyway, when they got on the topic of divorce, I suddenly realised (had a "holy shit" moment) how sad divorce really is. I mean, yes, divorce is tragic, family broken up, kids get separated, sad times for all. In true economics style, let's simplify this. Let's take out the kids, the mortgages, splitting of the assets and also the alimony. Let's just focus on the man and woman. They must have loved each other very much to get married. To get to the point where you can't stand seeing them is pretty bad. That kinda blew my mind. This probably means nothing to anyone but me ahaha. Afterwards when I got over it, I felt very loser-ish. But ANYWAY...
3. Flicking through a cookbook
I was looking through a book I've had for YEARS. It's called "The Art and Soul of Baking". I haven't baked anything from it before because all the recipes have a tonne of ingredients and the method is quite... precise and requires more patience and effort than your regular womens weekly recipe book. There are three birthday messages on the front page and it just made me lol for ages. The sad thing was I couldn't remember how old I was turning when I got this gift. But at the same time, it made me realise that I am so unsure because we've been friends for years! The best thing is we're still good friends now and I feel like half melted butter (the best kind!) inside :) Woo lovehearts all round!
Best thing about turning twenty one is that everyweek feels like a mini school reunion !
PS. Sep 5 is BYO cup day at 7/11 for slurpees. $2.90!! OMG. Too bad it's still kinda cold in Sydney.

Sit and observe
If I ever moved away from Sydney or work or whatnot, I think I'd really miss it.
Ive been quite lethargic lately. Not too sure why. I've never ever fallen asleep in class, or even gone near there before, but lately I feel the need to sit down, close my eyes and take a nap somewhere. Voices get fuzzy, my eyes are glazed over and my mind slowly begins to shut down.
Getting old
Ahaha resorting to nanna naps now!
Had a really nice day today, hope you all did too :)

Eating chocolate is justified when you're listening to running music
After a while it all sounds the same to me. But after a few hours I feel rejuvenated. Almost like after a session at the gym.
Ahaha I better not make a habit out of this. Time to hit up Jess' blog for some fitness motivation!!
WHT:
Rolled out of bed early because I found that my muscles didn't hurt at all today. Got to uni late anyways because this morning I indulged myself with breakfast. For the past few mornings I haven't left the house without 2 slices of toast and 2 halves of avocado heaped on top. YUM.
Got to uni late, slacking off already. It's atrocious. Had a lecture, accounting quiz, and a chicken roll at azzuri. Met another international student and we talked in detail about his plans to get a masters in accounting.
So much passion. I'm a bit envious.
On a different note (terrifying one), MY GYM KEEPS CALLING ME. And I keep pressing the ignore button. Ahaha oh damn. Why are they so good at reminding me of my lacking attendance?
Hope you all had a happy hump day !!

Ignorant or what?
Maybe my parents are sensing a lack of Asian pride in me.
Maybe this stemmed from my lack of support for the Chinese teams during the Olympics.
Maybe they just think I'm too 'whitewashed'.
But they sat me down this evening to watch a Chinese documentary about people who migrated to the states and Canada during the goldrush.
I don't know any 3rd or 4th generation Chinese in Australia or anywhere else outside Asia. I don't know how to write my grandparents names in Chinese, and I don't even know the name of my great-grandparents. There's a lot that I don't know and sometimes I wish I did.
During the doco, I giggled whenever I saw an old lady/man speak perfect English with an American accent. It's so weird right? But I wonder how it feels to be a 4th generation Chinese person living in 2012. Looking like a Chinese person, but not knowing a single word of your great-grandparents' language. Always being categorised as a migrant or foreigner, but feeling very much like "white" American.
PS. On an unrelated note, someone asked me today why I don't share my blog with many people. I have multiple reasons.
1. I bitch about work sometimes. Who doesn't, right? I'd just prefer to not have my bosses read/hear about my whinging out of context.
2. I use this mainly to update old friends I have no time to see, and friends who are overseas!
3. I want my new friends to judge me by who I am currently, and not through my old blog posts (I often read my past posts and cringe A LOT!)
4. My dream of becoming a pro-blogger were over ages ago. I am not interested in attracting new readers, just retaining my original ones :D

Dear lurkers
Hey you!
Yes you!
Exciting stuff, Joseph's USA blog has been up for a few days.
On the weekend a few of you commented that I wasn't adding new blogs to my blogroll D: Sorreh folks. Haven't had too much time on my hands. Nowadays, I either blog in bed when I can't sleep, or on the bus!
Anyway, those who are planning on visiting the US should watch that space for updates.
Also wanted to recommend this blog. She hasn't updated in a while, but I really enjoyed reading it - it's really entertaining!
***
Today I found myself scrolling through pages like She Runs the Night and JP Morgan Corporate Challenge. Why? I have no freaking idea. I think I had momentarily forgotten about the pain in my body because I had been sitting down for so long.
Also jiggled my timetable a bit today, and found that I can sorta fit my classes into 3 days. HOORAY, I am staying home tomorrow and doing my assignments. And hopefully going to the gym, if this aching subsides. It's been a month since I last went.
Oopsies.
PS. I'm really bad at re-telling funny stories. I always end up laughing before I even get to the funny part. But it's so funny I can't help it. K is even worse. I know she's constantly thinking about stuff. Sometimes in the car, when it's completely silent, she'll burst out into crazy laughter. When I ask her "what is it?" she'll usually say "oh dw, I just thought of something funny". It may not sound like much, but on a few occassions, her random hyena laughing has really scared me. Especially when I am driving (my dad forbids the radio to be on/people to talk when I'm driving, so yeah, that's why there are long periods of silence in the car).

I've never worn so much eyeliner in my life.
I like the mole.
Currently resting my legs by sitting in bed, thinking about how I will leave the house and catch my bus tomorrow. I fear I will be unable to walk.
But oh well, knowing that my whole body will be TONE AS is a comforting thought too HAHA.

Another Friday night
These three and a half weeks have gone by so quickly, it's kinda craycray. Every week I've been looking forward so bad to another Friday to swing by and last night did not disappoint.
Even though I finished relatively late for a Friday, I was still able to grab a drink with my workmates to farewell my snr mgr and scheduler. Even though it was 10pm, and I was starving, I hung around to show face at the "corporate scene".
3 years ago, if you told me to stand with a bunch of half drunk adults and talk about cycling I would have told you to piss off. Last night I was glad so much cycling was shown in the channel 9 Olympics broadcast, because I was part of a really animated conversation about Olympic cycling with some of the higher ups.
I've tried to blog about the fine line between kiss-assery and making yourself seen at work so many times, but it always ends up in my draft box.
In short, if you think you can rise up the ranks (or even in the current state of the economy, retain your job) with just hard work, think again. So naive.
Anyway, after that, went out for Korean BBQ at O bal tan around 11ish with work friends and started winding down for the weekend. Could finally stop pretending to be a smart independent woman (harhar, I'm actually not kidding) and relax and be me. Note that I like pretending to be Miss Independent sometimes.
OKAY! Post complete. Good luck to c2s-er's. Pop by my work's marquee and I'll slip you an oyster or a drink ;) have a lovely weekend folks!!

Just another thought
Don't you just hate it when your bus is late? Don't you hate it even more when you see two buses come together?
This morning, I found a silver lining. My buses came together this morning. I took the one behind it and for like the second time ever, I got a seat in the morning on a yellow hillsbus. Not having to cling onto handles and bus poles for my dear life or having my life flash before my life everytime the bus driver makes a violent turn, or hurtling down the aisle after losing grip of my hold when the brakes are slammed.
It's gonna be a sweet sweet day.

Confessions of a secret workaholic
Somedays I'll say something mindlessly like "ugh, I just want to get married, have kids, and stay home". I SO DO NOT MEAN THAT.
I also say things like "raking in the cash", "rollin' with the dough" and "buildin' up ma bank" but I have also come to realise that I am not really working for the money.
Though extrinsic rewards are tempting, I see more value in intrinsic things like knowledge, and job satisfaction.
I reckon you work harder and learn faster when you're driven by intrinsic motivation than by money. At least I do anyway :)
Thursday has swung by pretty quick. Hope y'all have a great almost-the-weekend-but-not-quite day!

The return of the lard
When I'm working I kinda let myself go. And by "let myself go", I mean I am way off the lease an pretty much eating everything in sight. This is unfortunate for people who sit on my flour because nowadays the cookie jar is very empty (when you get to work early, you have more choice). I justify all this eating by telling myself that thinking hard and solving problems will also burn many calories.
Hardihar. How ignorant I am.
ANYWAY, today the biffel and I hit up sharkies for some Thai food. We over ordered and I think we both fel t a bit sick by the end.
Can't remember if I blogged about my last trip to Holy Basil, but even if I did, I have to again RAVE about how EPICALLY DELICIOUS the fried icecream is.
Presentation wise, it didn't look as good as it did in the opening week (when I went last time).
But the filo pastry wrapped-icecream that's lightly fried smells and tastes of nothing but buttery goodness. As for the ice cream, it's none of the no-frills vanilla shit (sorry, I feel really strongly about bad vanilla ice cream- how can something so simple and delicious be made to taste like no frills ice cream... HOW?!), it's nothing but creamy goodness.
My favourite bit is defos the buttery (but flaky) pastry, but the roasted/sweet muesli/granola is also totes amaze.
Holy, this dessert rates as one of my faves.
So yeah, you guys know how I feel about desserts. Definitely pay Holy Basil a visit if you haven't. I've heard there isn't too much difference between the one in Canley and the one at sharkies. If you've been to both, let me know!!
I'll blog about the other food another day, they don't compare and I felt this ice cream deserved its own post.
Was gonna blog about this on the bus tomorrow, but couldn't sleep because I could smell butterrrrr.
Ps is it time I got new frames? I'm quite attached to my current ones and they're still in tip top shape... But I kind of want to branch into the giant ass lens/borderline fob kind. I think it... kinda suits me HAHAHA
