I like being in control - knowing what is going to happen and when, this is essential. I hate living life by the minute. It's like I'm being strung along, waiting for something to happen at any time.
To others, the synonyms for predictable might be boring, boring and boring. To me, I see stability, reassurance and safe.
Unpredictable can be seen as exciting, outside the square and living in the moment, but quite frankly, as the risk-averse being I am, I see it as out-of-hand, crazy and tiring.
Unpredictable people wear me out and while it's fun sometimes, outside the square is not where I want to be all the time.
(This reminds me of a time in my finance lecture. The lecturer had presented us with three stock portfolios and asked us which one we would pick to invest in. Because we made eye contact, he asked me to answer. I said 'none of them. I'd put my money in the bank'. Everyone thought I was making a joke and laughed, but in reality, that is what I would do.)

N2 extreme gelato
ANYWAY can I just start off by saying wow, the price of this gelato is steep. Once people (mostly uni kids) get over the gimmicky liquid nitrogen fog/ interesting flavours, I'm not too sure how $6 a scoop will seem appropriate. They'll last throughout summer for sure, but I would definitely think twice about getting a scoop if it's at such a hefty price (I get 2 scoops at Messina for $5).
But for now, I get the hype. They pretty much use kitchen aids to mix the gelato mix with n2 to get gelato! When I went 2 days ago, flavours they had included PB&J, cigar smoked hainanese coffee (which was reaaaally good by the way), buttered popcorn, sourcream chocolate and mango. There was a special moon cake flavour which wasn't available at the time, but I'm guessing it will be out this week just in time for the moon cake festival.
The gelato wasn't super fantastic but I think everyone's blown away by the n2, the geeky outfits and the interesting flavours. I'll be keeping an eye out for new flavours. Will defos try the mooncake one when I get a chance :):)
Ps. I think it's run by kids from usyd science.

overanalysing stuffssss
Just got a text saying "she called me bro. its over".
Dear friend, it is not over. Please stop over analysing things people say.
(and don't get mad at me for posting this - I have not revealed your name).
Goes to show how wrong gender stereotypes are. Women aren't the only overanalysers.
PS, the wonderful bleb has informed me that if you bring a teddybear to boost later on today, you can get a free drink!

raining lemons
I can't remember if I posted about this before. I'm sure I attempted to, but it might have landed in my drafts box.
Another vague thought today. Sometimes I feel like I'm waiting for life to chuck me a lemon.
I want to make lemonade. So I wait.
But I get nothing. Nada. Zilch.
And when I finally find my lemon orchard, the sky starts raining lemons, except at this point in time, what I'm dying for, is an apple.

Celebration
we were so meant to grow up in the states
Friday was a day of blood, sweat and tears. I fought like hell with M's sewing machine from 8.30am until 1am the next day (I did take breaks in between... but still!). Who knew a simple design could be so difficult to actually make. FYI, it is actually a legit item of clothing. I even have darts on the front and back for contouring to my body shape. It is nothing compared to W's actual WMHS cheer uniform, but I'm pretty happy with my clothes-making skills.
thank you!
Giant-ass cake.
Croquembouche
OPP CHEERS - I really like this photo! Photo of a photo taken the morning after. It's nice to wake up with friends!
How I actually spent my birthday. K calls this the 'forever alone' pic.
Other cakes consumed during the week. The probability of me getting diabetes has increased tenfold.
Thank you C!
Combination of: Sweet potato cake, blueberry yoghurt cake, strawberry sponge cake, fruit sponge, black forest and green tea!

White chocolate cupcakes with raspberry filling from J - superly delicious.
Had too much fun last night and I'm paying for it today. My legs are killing me (hawhaw Shark Hotel at 1 in the morning) and I think I slept funny because my neck doesn't feel normal.
BUT NO REGRETS!
Back to my essay now. Peace out chikadees and chikadoos :) 3>

I feel like hurling
My headache is so bad I feel like hurling.
I was in stress-head mode today because at the mo I'm juggling crap for work, uni and my own stuff.
Headache started an hour ago when I realised I forgot i had a training session this morning at work this morning. I was so excited about K's graduation that I forgot everything else.
:'( I can't sleep because there's so much on my mind.
I must have woken up on the wrong side of the bed today. I had to stand on the bus to and from the city =_=

Nonchalant
Harhar.
Dear friends, thank you all for your kind facebook wishes, delectable baked goods, essay-worthy texts and hilarious video/Skype messages.
To everyone I bumped into today, sorry about the hair and just my appearance in general. I was not planning on bumping into anyone, because I never do on Wednesdays.
Hopefully my megawatt smile made up for my lack of grooming hawhaw. Next year I'll dress up real nice ;)
Anyway, thanks for the domestic and international love guys :)
Best day evur?

Too impulsive?
I bought an S3 just then.
I have spent so much money today.
Got a massive cake so that was a bit below 150, Chinese/Mandarin classes were about 300 (an investment towards my future) and the phone was just over 550 (present for D).
I also bought a glue gun for 6 bucks, but I think in comparison, that's pretty immaterial.
HOLY SHIT. Eating homemade sandwiches for the rest of the semester. (So glad I worked my ass off during the break)

Am I odd?
Anyway, bumped into an old friend (literally) today and caught a whiff of the scent of his laundered clothes. I recognized him because of the way his clothes smelled (which is really good by the way). I ant believe his mum's stuck with the same brand of detergent for so many years!
In saying this, I'd like to clarify that I don't go around sniffing people. I just... notice it when someone is wearing a nice scent or not smelling so good.
Random fact for the day.
Played my first game of oztag in eons. Slipped SO many times. Wtf so unco-ordinated, but it was a load of fun and I'm glad to be getting stuck into some sort of fitness thing.
ALSO going to the gym tomorrow. When I post my to do list online, I feel obliged to fulfill it. So yes. Yoghurberry tomorrow hooray!

Pizza party 2
Celebrated W's birthday on Sat night with a visit to the star (no luck/love at the Pontoon table), to Mario Pizza in Surry and 333 on George.
Here are my very ugly flash photos:

Because I'm still stuck in my pizza phase, I was THRILLED with the choice of restaurant we went to. Mario's have more variety, but I think I like La Rosa pizza more.

Apart from Sat night, I spent ALL WEEKEND at uni.
Feeling so worn out before the week has even begun!
Hope you all have a great week :) Midsem break soon. Can't wait!
PS. excited to be working on a DIY project atm. Will take a few photos when its done!!1

Opportunity costs
As you all know, I have given up living "the life". No more morning coffee from Taste, or buying breakfast or lunch. No more $20 brunch sets. And NO MORE browsing through online shops.
I have to say, even though I've forked out a huge amounts for some invoices I've received, my bank account is looking healthy and I've saved so much more.
Eating out adds up.
I'm waiting for our bananas to ripen so I can mash it all up to make breakfast muffins... but they're taking forever.
PS. Eating out does not include moochi or any kind of froyo/ice cream/gelato OR deep fried golden gaytimes. Yes, I am planning a trip to the abercrombie soon. TRES excited!

mind games
So you know how I always digress in my posts? And each blog post is never really just about one thing but like a tasting plate, or a degustation of my thoughts?
My mind is like that. I literally get lost in my thoughts because my mind just drifts away.
Like this afternoon my thought process was a bit like this: What should I eat for lunch today? Maybe a salad with vegemite toast. Do people put kale in salad? What does kale look like anyway? Does it look like spinach and come in a can like in Popeye? What was Popeye's gf called again? Were they married? Have to jot down AA's wedding date in my calendar...
All this mumbojumbo happens in the space for a few seconds and then I'm left to wonder.. what was I thinking/talking about before?
Also semi-related, sometimes I'm in the middle of telling someone a story and I realise it's not very funny, or very entertaining (super worthy of a 'cool story bro' response). I hate being stuck in those, but it happens all the time. I am the worst storyteller ever.
---
I'm feeling really chuffed at the moment. Nothing has really gone bad at all today. My ego was boosted in the arvo when L called me up to bitch about the accountant who replaced me on her current engagement. This is why I like work more than uni. People miss you/notice you're missing at work, but no one notices jack at uni. Am I too needy? hahaha
The sun was fantasmo today and I spent 30 minutes soaking in UV rays in the Merewether courtyard. SO NICE! Hope you all had a fantastic monday :)

a shitty love story
I was listening to Taylor Swift's vevo playlist the whole evening (barely got any work done, mind you) and for the first time ever, I listened to the lyrics of love story.
Even though I've sung along to this song a billion times, I never really paid attention to the lyrics.
WTF?
I mean, yes, catchy song, but crappy love story.
---
Went to the optom and spent $300 (yes, on top of health insurance - vision impairment is costly) today. I have not changed my frames in years. I spent about half an hour at the optometrists' googling "how to spot fake Ray-Ban's" and finally picked out a pair of sort-of-not-really wayfarers. I have no idea what it's called, but I'm happy to say it is on trend and very comfortable. And for the first time in ages, I will be able to see the white/blackboard in class. No more sitting in the front rows, hurrah!
Monday tomorrow :( have to go to lameass classes. Looking forward to next weekend because my diary is lined with nothing but fun.
Have a great week everyone :) Go bathe in that glorious sunshine and soak in a Winter's worth of vitamin D.

Green
So jelly of all you pet owners out there.
Like seriously if I got a puppy, I'd never leave my house :'))))))))))
Now if only I could convince D to get over his lousy fear of animals, I'd totally get a pet!
PS. Weird how the hits on my blog spiked yesterday. I wonder what happened?
PPS. My house has vegemite again! yay

Miracle
Everyday, I skip my 11am classes and go to the ones in the afternoon. I've been pretty much rolling out of bed at 11am each morning.
BUT NOT TODAY. Today I was WIDE awake at 6.30. My phone beeped (must have been an email or something), and I woke up. Have been up ever since, half shocked and amused (still) at how early it is.
It's a miracle.
The weather is sweetas and almost beach worthy. Yesterday I almost died in my jeans. If I get a chance today, I'm going to sit in the sun to let my fluorescent-light-tube-legs get a bit of colour.
SUMMER IS COMING WOO!

Why post-its are useful pt 3
Hello friends,
In 24 hours I will have completed my finance midsemester exam. I am excited.
Obviously studying hard!
My newsagent saved me $4 this week. Instead of buying a multi2 pass, it turns out I can use a multi1 if I only take buses! I did not know that! It pays to be friendly with neighbourhood people sometimes. $4 less spent is $4 saved. $4 can buy me 1 and 4/5 sets of Hainan Chicken Rice in Singapore, a box of poutine in Canada, or 2 street hot dogs in New York.
Omg. There is not a day that goes by where I do not think of my end of year holiday. There are about 80 days until I jet off. Eighty days. That's 79 days + 1. So excited.
ALRIGHT. Hauling my ass off the comp now. Good luck for exams dudeeesss. :) Bye now!

Temporary friends
Once upon a time, someone told me "yknow, I used to think you would be a temporary friend, but I think we'll be friends for life".
I was a bit confused then, unsure of whether I should have felt privileged she though I was worthy of being her friend for life, or offended that she didn't think that already, after spilling some of my deepest darkest (not really) secrets to her. Ahaha.
But since then, I've totally applied this theory to some of the people I've met in my life.
So here's what I've extrapolated from the term 'temporary friends'. Please do not get this confused with acquaintances or facebook friends. TF's are people you get close to really quickly, but at some point in your life will just as quickly become un-close. This could be due to a change in uni timetables, change in season, or simply because you've just passed that 'phase' where you connect so well on so many different levels.
It might be a strange idea to some people, but I think it makes sense.
I think I've made quite a few temporary friends this year. Of course I'd rather make life long friends instead, but people change, and you can't guarantee you'll like/accept them for a loooong period of time.
On a completely different note, I was almost in aworkplace harassment situation on Friday that scared the SHIT out of me. It's been a few days since then and it wasn't even that serious, but I still can't shake off the anxiety. Can I just say, that even though women have alot of equality or whatever in the workplace, it doesn't hurt to be cautious esp when people will be drunk in the office.

Reflection on another FNO
Went out to celebrate P's last day of work yesterday. Haven't seen her this happy in a long while :) She was saying how she feels so good to finally get away :'( but anyway, huge gang of us trekked it down George to find a place to eat dinner/line stomachs and NOWHERE but Iima would take us in (holy basil called me back when we were halfway done eating... I miss their fried ice cream). Rest of the night was spent at Mr B's and Assembly bar- which is honestly more hipster than I remembered it to be.
Seriously, all the bartenders were sporting checkered shirts and some form of chinos. They had that funny elevated slick back pompadour thing going on with their hair. Anyway, as a work tradition, we were trying to get jagerbombs and one of the hipster bartenders were like "we don't do jäger, you can go to the ivy, or establishment or aurora for those kinda drinks, where do you think we are?"
I said "hipsters from Melbourne" and scored myself a drink?! (a Hendrix btw, if you were wondering, which tasted awful)
Anyway, messy night out (apparently S is still throwing up this morning, wtf?) spent way too much time holding hair back for her yesterday, but I mean, what are friends for, right? Apparently it's been a bad week at work (at my favourite client too) and they all just hit the booze like there's no tomorrow.
Bad drinking culture in Australia. I don't get why people drink until they're piss drunk or passed out cold with their heads hanging in the toilet bowl. It's not like you wake up feeling like a million dollars anyway.
But regardless, it was tres enjoyable to dabble in corporate life again.
