This little cafe really is a hidden gem. However I'm not surprised at all to find that many know of this place. It's located on the floor below the food court of the newly furbished Pitt St Westfield. It's not glamorous like the floor above, but is literally a hole in the wall, serving delectable italian desserts and lunch menu.
L and I were only there for the dishes advertised in the front window.
Strawberry tart ($5 I think)
The berries were fresh, the custard was ahmazin' and the chocolate on the place was not chocolate - BUT WARM FUDGE! I loved the custard. It was stiff, but still lovely and of a smooth consistency. Like.. whipped cream, when it can form stiff peaks :D I really like custard, but I find at most places, people put too much vanilla flavouring, so that it covers the natural milky flavour. Custard here is just right :D I love custard.
Baked Ricotta Cheese Cake ($6-7 I.. forgot)
I'm going to sound like an idiot, but this cheese cake was really rich, but airy at the same time. I know it doesn't really make any sense, but I don't know how it works! It tasted strongly of ricotta, which was LOVELY and was really filling. Like.. really filling. The warm fudge make another appearance on the plate. yum.
Arrancini Bolognes ($6)
Do not be mistaken. This is not a peach. Rather, it is a ball of rissoto and cheese, rolled in some bread crumbs, perfectly baked, cut in half and served with bolognaise sauce and freshly grated parmesan cheese. The flavour in this little ball of goodness is INCREDIBLE. I usually find rissoto a bit bland and too creamy for my liking, but WOW. The combination of bolognaise sauce. WOW. I could not get enough of this. Why have I never had this before?
