Not a recipe... Next post!
Happy birthday for Friday to my bestest friend (hope you contracts ex went well!) and to K for today (sat).
I can finally do a direct and indirect cash flow statement FROM SCRATCH, without looking at the textbook, and apparently the cash flow statement question is worth 20 marks. Out of 100. I have studied 50 marks worth of material right now. Am going crazy. Crazy. Crazy. Aaaaaargh. I don't want to do this horrid subject again!
At least afterwards I'll be able to relax at the fish markets ehh. Also hitting some computery places on Sunday to get a netbook because I type faster than I write and my Dell studio 15 is a piece of crap :(
Suggestions?

Makin' beef jerky- azn styleeee
I've been studying in the dining room. At around 9pm she took out a rolling pin, cling wrap, a variety of jars and bottles of ingredients. All this excited me very much. BEEF JERKY ASIAN STYLE! Like the type at the Friday night food market, but minus the red coloring (which apparently, is carcinogenic).
Worthy distraction, and excellent study snack. Might post up the recipe if you guys are lucky. Its SO easy to make :D
M knows I'm feeling devo about fin tomorrow. Arghghghghggh.
Hope you all do well in exams!! :)

Current affairs and television
So after another nice sleep in (I slept really late last night/this morning because I was watching that 70s show and completely lost track of time), I logged into SMH, and found out that the fish markets won't be upgraded with the waterside promenade or whatever. Secretly, I'm glad. I mean, it's good for our tourism industry, but can you imagine how many more people there would be?
And since we're on the topic of current affairs, another article I found about sharing chores in the household. A family home. A dad working full time, a stay-at-home-mum and bubs growing up at home. My parents argued about this SO MANY times when I was a kid. I know what a handful my sister and I were when we were kids, and there was always a never ending list of stuff to do at home. That, plus we only had one car and D took that to work, meaning that grocery shopping would be done by the three of us making the trek to the nearest Westfield Shoppingtown (they don't call it shoppingtown anymore eh). I used to think my dad was really slack after coming home and just doing close to nothing.
But now I know how it feels. Coming home after a long day at work, you really don't feel like doing anything except sit on the couch with your eyes fixated on the tv screen.
I remember giving real hell to M though. So, yeah. Now whenever I get a chance, I try to help out at home. Chucking the dishes into the dishwasher, steaming the floor, doing the washing (it's a bit hard to do it in large loads now, because D broke the rotating hanger-y thing)... I just don't clean my room. In fact, I think I avoid my own room now. I only come in here to sleep and store my clothes. I'm just gonna chuck lots of crap out later in life, when I'm 100% sure I don't need it. :D (My justification is, if I don't touch a box, or pile of stuff in over 2 years, I don't have to check what is inside before throwing it out. I won't miss it if I don't know what it is. Bad, I know, but it works... sorta).
Best case scenario, dad goes to work, mum goes to work, kid goes to daycare and a cleaner is hired. Of course there are risks associated with this, including:
- The cleaner may or may not be a bad person. E.g. thief, kidnappers, kid abuser, lazy and not really cleaning your house.
- You miss out on your kid's growth.. or whatever they call that.
- I just realised I haven't assigned "cooking" to anyone in the above. I guess you can take turns.. or hire... a cook... or better yet, a cleaner who cooks. Then the risk you would have to consider is: will the cook wash his/her hands before making my dinner?!
Some people are really horrible to their maids. That's probably what drives them crazy.
Inviting someone into your home is always risky.
OK new topic. To another creepy topic. Before I started watching that 70s show last night, I was watching a really creepy episode of Without A Trace. I'm quite a scaredy cat, and am quite often freaked out by these shows, and to list a few others: Criminal Minds, NCIS, Ghost Whisperer, Medium, Supernatural, (even desperate housewives sometimes). BUT I LOVE WATCHING IT ANYWAY! But yeah, on last night's episode of WAT, a teenage girl went missing, and we found out it was because her dead boyfriend's mum kidnapped her and forced her to take part in something called "Ming Hun", or Ghost bride in English. They were all Chinese (I was channel flipping, and saw the asian faces and though- oh! Asians on tv!). Apparently Ming Hun is an old Chinese tradition where girls are killed to be brides for boys/men who happened to die early/before getting married. This was to make sure they had a companion or whatever.
The whole idea of marriage after death is ridiculous, and some ancient Chinese people really had some warped ways of thinking.
But in the end, the girl drank the poison and she died next to her dead boyfriend. It wasn't gory or anything. Just super creepy because they were in full traditional white make up with red clothes, gold ornaments, weird hair-dos.
:WLEKJ :SLDKFJSLDKFJ I'm blabbering, but whatever. I'll do anything that isn't to do with finance study :D
But back to Ming hun... I'm incredibly curious about this ancient tradition, but I'm a bit too scared to look it up on Wikipedia (just incase there are any photos). Like the time I was told by a certain someone (thanks alot buddy) to google image harlequinn babies, it scared me so much I ran straight out of my room to ask my dad to close my browser for me.
OK. End of this crazy talk. I'm going to eat lunch and try to stop thinking about marriage of corpses. Ew.
PS. The photos in my last post didn't show up eh..
*EDIT* I was daring and did a search on Wikipedia. Girls aren't necessarily KILLED for the ghost marriage. And apparently it happens in Singapore. Still creepy.

Artsy coffee
Currently sitting in a quiet booth at uni. Normally all the Christian coffee groups congregate here, but during exam period, they're all gone. Hearing nothing but the quiet buzz if this small cafe. It's on the third floor of the architecture building, next to the abc! If my full time years at uni could be cruisy like today, that would be awesome.
Thinking of getting a job in a small cafe next year, or something if that sort. Really want to get away from the computers, desks and office scene.
My coffee feels like a latte. Will not come here for coffee again. Their rice puddings are ok, but I think they buy those from elsewhere.
I feel like some Sara lee pound cake, but I havent seen that in woolies for >10 years!!
:( I'm blabbering. Too devo. Exam finishes at 9.10pm. Fml
