Ankle pants for a rainy day?

I thought it was a great idea but turned out to be the worst idea ever.

When you wear long pants, it just soaks up the rain. When you wear a skirt, your stockings get soaked and the rain soaks through your shoe.

Best actual idea is to stay at home (more importantly, stay in bed!) in this weather. Woke up and thought "faaaaaaaaaark" because:
a) I knew I slept in - I vaguely remember pressing the snooze button repeatedly 30 mins prior.
b) it was raining cats and dogs
c) I can't wear my newly mended/ironed skirt :'(
c) it's Monday and I know I have a truckload of work to do
d) should have done some work on he weekend, but was convinced to do otherwise by my alluring computer (hello chuck).

I was going through some of my photos from the Christmas party - man. I can't find a good photo to change my fb Dp (yet another first world problem). All the good photos of me are with people I don't know that well. And photos with my friends at work are a bit... Spastic. I have the crazy eyes.
