Sparkle Cupcakery - worth the trek?

Hi again friends :)

I almost forgot to blog about my 'haul' from Sparkle Cupcakery last week.  The first time I had a cupcake from Sparkle was at the Aroma Festival earlier this year (just went on a quick surf through my archives... I never blogged about the Aroma festival?! DID I NEVER POST UP CAMEL PICS?).

From memory, it was super delicious.

So I knew I had to have another one.

I knew exactly where the store was, but everytime I passed by, it was closed.  However one fateful day last week, P suggested we go on a cupcake rampage - during the day. And we made it.

So fancy :)
The cupcakes are just under $5 for one. I paid $28.80 (or something close to that figure) for a half a dozen. I'm sure a large portion of that goes to the presentation/packaging of the iced goods.

I am a sucker for pretty packaging.

Flavour list
Once you open up the box, there is a little card which sort of acts as a 'legend' for the flavours of your iced goods.

I did buy 6 cupcakes, but could not resist eating it before I could take a snap with my camera.

and then there were four
Um so, just by looking at them, they don't seem like anything special. What's different about these cakes is their icing.  It's very light, airy and sort of fluffy.  The cake itself is very moist and the taste of it is very true to its name.

L calls these nipple cakes. Harhar. It's not hard to see why.

perplexed
But really, I think my expectations were too high.  I remembered it to taste SO much better. You can pretty much see the disappointment in my face ^.  It's still a SUPERB cupcake - I've just had better (like the ones I got on my birthday, HOLLA @ J).

It was a bit on the sweet side.

I must be getting old. I can't remember a time where I complained about something being too sweet.

OVERALL, yes, worth the trek if you haven't had it before.  Definitely go for the White choc + strawberry one.  If I decide to go again, I'm going for the cardamom one.

But tbh, the next time I feel like a baked good, I'm either going to BSB or Flour and Stone (OR explore Black Star).

3 screams of joy:

I think I walked past the Sparkle Cupcakery once when it was closed and i remember thinking the building looked so fancy and nice!
Their flavour list looks so nice but, what a shame!

It's not bad!! But I'm just saying they're overhyped ;D

Or I overhyped them in my mind :(
