however i decided to just punch in my trial marks (really mucked up trials marks :( ) into the SAM calculator on boredofstudies, and holy fricken crap- TT__TT;
i'll be happy as a chappy if i get these marks.

I have a feeling i'll make this drastic improvement in economics. i've been studying my ass off for economics and it'd better pay off.
i don't know whether to laugh or cry- but I guess it has made me realise how important my bio mark & 2u mark is.

Your 2U and 3U English aint the problem.
Your 2U Jap, bio and maths is however.
i also happened to drop quite a bit in the trial...99 - 97 anyone?
Anyhow. cos your maths (2U remember) is still not over 90, its still going to go down....stupid band 6 rules
Bio - well youve said it already....its kinda like Geo..where u need 93/4 + to do well
Oh. and Jap 2U scaled shittily anywhere below 85. I got 70....so...perfect case.
But your Jap extension will hold up relatively well though.
Oh and 3 marks on top of eco will help you greatly. Cos its slightly better scaler than Geo. in which 94 goes down to 90.

Don't worry I'm in a similar siutation. 98-->96...
I have the same problem with German, I seem to be capped around 90-92 because I lose 5 marks straight away from listening. :( And then three random marks from the other bits.
But writing isn't too hard? For trials, I did a couple of HSC questions with lots of complex grammar, got it marked by teacher and then underlined all the juicy sentences which I could use in trials. It seemed to have worked :D
But German seems to be a lost cause for me... since I'm capped at 90-92. The scaling from a 91-->79 which (I hope) never has a chance of counting.

don't be afraid, sam is not as accurate as the school one, i think, it might under might over.
start doing maths papers; your english is okay, and maths is the next earliest exam right? progression, take them one at a time.

SAM is based off the 2005 HSC and you're not supposed to put your trial marks in.
Also, after 2005 the Board of Studies stopped giving out raw marks, making it difficult to determine actual cut offs and stuff.
You're supposed to put your HSC marks that you receive a day before you get your UAI.
So it could be underestimating or overestimating :)

I have another UAI calculator (it's an excel doc) if you want. Although it overestimates a bit, to make you feel better. :P
And I think you type in your report marks into SAM.
You bombed 2u eng and got 96!? You're making my poor 85 weep in the corner :p
Like Borbor said, best way you improve your writing is memorizing GOOD sentences to include into your composition. Send your writing over to me and I'll add things and edit, and please dont spam grammar when its pointless and confuddles the meaning of the sentence D:
